2.Installation

2.1. Automatic Installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option to install WordPress PDF generator, as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t need to leave your web browser.

In order to install the purchased plugin automatically, use these steps:

  • From My Account go to the “Download” section. [Here you can easily find all your purchased plugins].
  • Click on the “Download” button present across your purchased plugin to download your extension.
  • Now Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • From the sidebar click on Plugins.
  • Click on Add New and then upload your purchased plugin.
  • Click the Browse button. Choose your downloaded plugin’s .zip file, and click on Install.

2.2. Manual Installation

The manual installation of this PDF plugin for WordPress is another option to connect the plugin to your WordPress environment. This method involves downloading our WordPress PDF Generator extension and uploading it to your webserver via your favorite FTP application.

Steps are as follows:

  • Upload WordPress PDF Generator folder to the/wp-content/plugins directory.
  • Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.

3.Workflow

This section carries the settings that will guide you to make this PDF creator plugin work the way you want.

3.1.PDF Display Setting

Through this setting, the admin can control where the PDF icon has to be displayed. Admin has the authority to allow direct download of PDF for guest users, also admin can restrict direct downloads for guest users as per his requirements.

If the admin wants to display the PDF icon anywhere in the middle of the page. He can use the shortcode provided.

Admin can also allow bulk export of selected posts into PDF at once on the frontend.

  • Front End: Admin has to enable this checkbox to make the PDF download icon visible for the users.
    • Show to all guest users: Admin when enables this radio button the PDF download icon will be visible to all guest users.
    • Show to logged-in users:   Admin when enables this radio button the PDF download icon will be visible to all logged users.
    • Email option for guest in user: Admin when enables this checkbox, every guest user will be asked to provide his/her email address whenever he/she tries to download a PDF. then the PDF will be sent to the guest users as an email attachment.
  • Admin Panel:  Admin when enables this setting Exportpdf option will be displayed in the Admin Panel. Admins can click on this option to export a specific post as a PDF file. He also has an option to export the selected posts as PDF in bulk.
  • Bulk Export: Admin when enables this setting  the users are allowed to add the posts to wishlist and then export the selected posts at once in the PDF file. 
  • Enable Shortcode: This setting enables the admin to add a shortcode to display the PDF icon. Admin can add the shortcode in the content to add the PDF icon wherever they want. This will change the default location of the PDF icon.Once done, Admin can save the setting and proceed further.

3.2.PDF General Setting

Admin can use this setting to define the PDF as a whole i.e. what is to be displayed in the PDF. 

He can choose a file name, author details, post category, post tags, post date for the PDF. 

Admin can set the alignments and placement of the PDF icon in the frontend. Also, he can choose a custom image to be displayed as a PDF icon.

  • Select Setting: Admin has to select the setting, he created in the PDF Display Setting.
  • Featured Image: Admin when enables this setting the feature image  will  be displayed in  PDF
  • Include Cache: Admin when enables this setting, PDF will be generated from the cache. Example: If the admin has enabled the Featured Image setting, the featured image will be displayed but if admin disables the Featured Image setting and checks the Include Cache checkbox and then saves the setting, even then the featured image will be displayed in the pages whenever admin exports the page. By default, the cache is not enabled.
  • Schedule Cache Updation: Admin with this setting can select the updation frequency of cache from this drop-down list. They can select a Daily or Weekly frequency in this list.
  • Default File Name: Admin with this setting, gets two options, Post ID and Post Name. Choosing Post ID will display the ID of the post as the name of the PDF example, 1.pdf in the URL, and downloaded file. Choosing Post Name will display the Name of the post as the name of the PDF example, hello-world.pdf in the URL, and downloaded the file.
  • Display Author Details: Admin with this setting, can select the First Name, Last Name, or Nickname of an author from the drop-down. Whichever option the admin selects will be displayed on the post.
  • Display Post Category List: Admin enables this checkbox if he wants to display the Category of the product or post in the PDF.
  • Display Post Tag List: Admin enables this checkbox if he wants to display the tags assigned to the particular post in the PDF file.
  • Display Post Date:  Admin enables this checkbox if he wants to display the Post Date in the PDF.
  • Button AlignmentAdmin with this setting can select the alignment of the PDF icon. He can use this dropdown menu to align the PDF icon Right, Left, or Center.
  • Button Placement: Admin with this setting can select the placement of the PDF icon i.e. above, below or both above and below the content.
  • Select Button: Admin with this setting can select the custom image for their PDF icon. By selecting the Custom option, the admin gets an option to Upload/Add custom Image in the PDF icon. 

3.3.PDF Body

Through this setting, the admin configures the structure of the PDF. He can choose the desired template,margins, font style, font size, image scaling ratio, page size, orientation, etc.

  • Post Template: Admin with this setting, gets a dropdown menu that lets him/her select from 3 templates; whichever template is selected PDF will be downloaded in that format.
  • Product Template: Admin with this setting, gets a dropdown menu that lets admins select from 3 templates; whichever template is selected PDF will be downloaded in that format.
  • Image Scaling Ratio: Admin with this setting, can change the ratio of the images present on the PDF.
  • Top Margin: Admin with this setting can change the top margin of the content in the PDF
  • Left Margin: Admin with this setting, can adjust and change the left margin of the content in PDF.
  • Right Margin:  Admin with this setting, can change the right margin of the content in the PDF.
  • Page Size:  Admin with this setting, can select or change the page size of the PDF. By default the size is A4.
  • Orientation:  Admin when enables this setting, can choose the orientation of the page between Portrait and Landscape. By default, it is set on a portrait.
  • Unit Of Measurement:  Admin with this setting, can select the desired unit of measurement from this dropdown menu. Admin can choose from Point, Millimeter, Centimeter, and Inch. The default is Millimeter.
  • Content Font:  Admin with this setting, can select the font of the content which he/she wants to be displayed in the PDF.
  • Custom Title: Admin with this setting, can add a custom title to change the default title of the post with this setting.
  • RTL Support:  Admin when enabling this setting, can reverse the content’s direction RTL(Right to Left) i.e. the content starts from Right and goes towards Left. This works best with languages like Hebrew, Persian, Urdu.

3.4.PDF Header

Admin can use this setting to customize the header of the PDF. He can change HEADER image width, height, margin, font style. etc. Admin can also set the full-width image in the header according to his requirements.

  • Page Header: Admin with this setting can upload an image, he/she wants in the header. Click on the UPLOAD/ADD IMAGE button and choose an image and insert it into the header.
  • Header with image only: Admin when enables this setting, can use a full-size width image to be displayed in the header.
    • Logo Image Width: Admin with this setting, can set the width of the image that is uploaded in the header section. 
    • Logo Image Height: Admin with this setting, can set the height of the image in the header section.
  • Header with image and site details: Admin when enabling this setting, can display both image and site details in the header at the same time.
    • Hide Site Name:  Admin can enable this checkbox to hide your website’s name in the header section.
    • Hide Site Description: Admin can enable this checkbox to hide your website’s description in the header section.
    • Hide Site URL: Admin can enable this checkbox to hide your website’s URL in the header section.
    • Logo Image Factor: Admin with this setting, can change the scale of the image uploaded in the header section. This changes both height and width of the image.
    • Logo Top Margin: Admin with this setting, can set the margin of the header from the top. By default the value is 2mm.
    • Header Font: Admin with this setting, can select the font of the header from the dropdown.
    • Header Font Size: Admin with this setting, can change the font size of the content in the header.

3.6.PDF Watermark

Admin can use this setting of the WordPress plugin to set a watermark for the PDF. He can use custom text, or images as Watermark in the PDF file that presents his/her brand.

  • Watermark Text: Admin when enable this checkbox can set text as a watermark in PDFs.
    • Watermark Font: Admin with this setting, can Select the font of content in Watermark from this dropdown.
    • Rotation: Admin with this setting, can set degrees to rotate the watermark text.
    • Watermark Text: Admin with this setting, can add the text in the textbox; which admin wants to be displayed as a watermark.
  • Watermark Image: Admin when enable this checkbox can set the image as a watermark in PDFs.
    • Image Height: Admin with this setting can set the height of the image.
    • Image Width: Admin with this setting can set the width of the image.
    • Image X Coordinate: Admin with this setting can set the image on the X coordinate.
    • Image Y Coordinate: Admin with this setting can set the image on the Y coordinate.
    • Image Transparency: Admin with this setting can set or adjust the transparency of the image.

3.7.PDF Advance Settings

This setting provides the admin with some additional functionalities. He can upload .TTF fonts, set page rotation, font stretching, font spacing, etc.

  • Browse to select fonts in .TTF format: Admin with this setting can upload .TTF font file that he wants to include in PDF. After this admin can set this font as the PDF content Font under the Body section.
  • Set Page Rotation: Admin with this setting can select the rotation of PDF 90,180 or 270 degrees from the drop-down menu.
  • Set Font Stretching: Admin with this setting can set the value, to stretch PDF font. This will stretch the font of the PDF body. This won’t affect the header and footer’s font.
  • Set Font Spacing: Admin with this setting to provide spaces between the letters in the PDF content.

3.8.Custom Bullet Style

Admin can use this setting to change the styling of bullet icons displayed on the PDF on the WordPress site. He can choose the image for the bullet icon. Admin can also set the bullet image height and width.

  • Bullet Symbol: Admin with this setting can upload an image to use as a custom bullet for the PDF icon.
  • Custom Bullet Image Height: Admin with this setting, can set the height of the custom bullet.
  • Custom Bullet Image Width: Admin with this setting can set the width of the custom bullet.

3.9.PDF Post Meta Details

Admin here chooses the post types for which he wants the PDF functionality to work. Also, Admin can select the meta field of the posts, pages, and custom posts that he wants to be displayed in a PDF file.

Allowed Post Types:

Admin with this setting can select the type of post, pages, products, and custom post types for which he wants to export  PDFs. With this PDF creator plugin, they get:

  • Post Meta Details
  • Page Meta Details
  • Product Meta Details

PDFs will be generated for various meta fields like:

  • _pingme
  • _encloseme
  • _sku
  • _total_sales
  • _tax_status
  • _stock
  • _product_version
  • _product_url
  • _price, and much more.

Just click on the checkbox of the meta field you want to display in the PDF. Enter the value of the meta field you want to be displayed in the textbox. Save the settings and proceed further.

  • Admin enables the checkboxes of the meta fields that he wants to be displayed in the PDF.

3.10.PDF First Page Settings

Through this setting, Admin can style PDF’s cover page. The cover page helps the admin to promote his brand.

3.10.1.Predefined templates

  • Predefined Templates: Admin when enables this setting, can select out of the 4 cover page templates provided.  The selected one will be displayed on the cover page. 
  • Cover Template: Admin with this setting can set the PDF template that the admin wants to be displayed in the PDF.
  • Cover Page Image: Admin with this setting can change the default image of the predefined cover page templates by uploading an image.
  • Company Name: Admin with this setting can add a brand name that’ll be displayed on the cover page template.
  • Logo: Admin with this setting can choose and upload the logo they want to display on the cover page.
  • Company Tagline: Admin with this setting can add his brand tagline.
  • Custom Footer Text: Admin with this setting can add a custom footer text on the cover page template.
  • Enable For Email: Admin with this setting can add an email on the cover page.
  • Enable For Contact:  Admin with this checkbox can add contact number on the cover page.
  • Enable For Address: Admin with this setting can show the address on the cover page.
